HOW TO CATCH SOMEONE STEALING AT WORK

Billions of dollars are lost and stolen annually because of Employee Theft (any stealing, use or misuse of their employer's assets without permission). Here's how you can re-gain control over your business and fight back.

Document It

  • As soon as theft occurs gather information and document it
  • What was stolen?
  • When was it stolen?
  • Where was it stolen?
  • If possible, around Whom was it stolen?

 Watch for Inconsistencies

  • In your records, watch for instances where the numbers don't add up.

    Eg: Your records show you had 20 expensive jackets at the start of the day, at the end of the day you had 10 in stock, but you only have records of 9 being sold. INVESTIGATE! 
  • Watch for instances where Money or Goods appear to be missing
  • Pay extra attention to cash register functions: No Sale, Refund, $0 Sale, VOID
  • Use footage from your ReedHD™ Hi-Def Cameras and look for signs of theft:

    • Cash being taken from a register and placed into a pocket
    • Cash taken from a register and into a tip jar
    • Strange habits around cash register
    • Merchandise going into jackets, purses or backpacks
    • Merchandise going into the garbage
    • Unauthorized access to cash boxes and safes
    • After hours access to the building
    • Transactions between friends and family. Sweat-hearting is when items are not entered into the cash register and the goods leave the store.
