The back-to-school season is in full swing! As your little scholars return to the classroom, it’s essential to ensure the nest they come back to is safe and secure.

1. Test your alarm system

Did you recently cancel your home phone line? If so, you may no longer be connected to Reed Security's 24/7 Monitoring Stations (and no longer have Guard, Police, and Fire dispatch).

Visit our Self Care site and type in "test" into the search bar for instructions.

2. Upgrade to a smart security system

As your kids return to school, there's no better time to review your home security measures. A smart security system not only protects against intruders, but can also notify you of hazards like fires or floods.

Consider installing:

4. Establish a safe room

A safe room should have a solid core metal or wood door, a deadbolt lock and no windows. You can modify a closet or an are within your basement.

Equip this area with essential supplies, including a first-aid kit, a list of emergency contacts, and a device to call 9-1-1.

Consider installing a keypad or panic button in your safe zone to notify the Police that you need help.

5. Teach safety principals

Educate your children about the basics of home safety:

Stranger Awareness: Teach them not to open doors to strangers, no matter how friendly they seem.

Safe Routes: Discuss the safest routes to and from school and the importance of staying on the designated paths.

7. Light up the perimeter

SUMMER SECURITY TIPS 2022

Break-in's increase during the summer. Use our checklist to keep the odds in your favour.

☐ 1. SHARE INFORMATION

Create a WhatsApp group and let your neighbours know if there is unusual activity or crime on your block.
Join your local Neighbourhood Group on Facebook and learn about recent activities.
eg: Stonebridge Neighbourhood Watch
Share video and images from your doorbell camera or security cameras.
Share information with the Police as it may help with an arrest.

☐ 2. DO NOT ADVERTISE YOU ARE AWAY

Ask all strangers for identification. The person who is “lost” and looking for directions could actually be a burglar checking to see if someone is home.
DO NOT advertise on Facebook or Instagram that you are travelling. You may think you’re letting your friends and family know you’re having a great time, but people often forget to change their privacy settings. If you like to post photos - post them after you get back.

☐ 3. KEEP YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED

Many burglars go door to door looking for targets that forgot to lock their front doors and car doors. Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
If you lose a key get the locks changed.

Rayner Agencies Ltd. is a general insurance brokerage that has been owned and operated by the Wasylenko family since 1971. Originally established by Lorne and Ruth Rayner in 1948, the business was started in the Sutherland area of Saskatoon and has continued to serve clients throughout Saskatchewan since its opening. Rayner Agencies Ltd. is a full-service insurance brokerage representing a large number of insurance companies and offers a wide range of insurance policies for homes, automobiles, businesses, and agricultural risks.

WELCOME TO 810 CENTRAL

Rayner Agencies had outgrown their original 3400 Sq Ft location in Sutherland. The lack of space in that building meant there was no parking and they didn't have any meeting rooms. Over time this was limiting the companies ability to grow. The team at Rayner Agencies didn't want to leave Sutherland, as they value the community and location. That meant finding the perfect location ended up taking 10 years!

Their patience paid off and they moved into the iconic old Sutherland Hotel and Bar location on Central Avenue. The extensive renovations to the 7500 sq ft property resulted in a stylish location that seamlessly blends heritage and modern styles including their beautiful Atrium.

Now the Rayner Agencies 23 team members have plenty of space. In addition, they rent out the impressive boardroom to 3rd parties for meetings and events.
