TESTIMONIAL FROM SCHULTE INDUSTRIES

"The install went good, cameras are functioning good, your crew is very knowledgeable in the field and we are pleased with Reed security.
There are a lot of companies in the security business I am sure, but it is your commitment to the customer and service that you provide is where Reed security really shines. If any potential customer wants to call me they can."

REED SECURITY PROTECTS ELIM CHURCH

Elim Church recently opened their multi-million dollar state-of-the-art facility at 419 Slimmon Road. We consulted with Administration Pastor Kevin Abrey and designed a custom security solution to protect the staff, visitors, and the building. We installed layered security consisting of an Alarm System with Burglar and Fire protection. Elim Church staff are notified of any events by Reed's 24/7 Rapid Response Monitoring Stations. An Access Control Swipe Card system restricts access to perimeter and interior doors and a ReedHD Hi-Def Video Surveillance system captures activities at entrance ways and parking lots. We worked with the contractor (Quorex Construction) and the electricians (Aim Electric) to ensure the security project was successful and completed on time.

HOW TO AVOID A BREAK-IN

Installing a security system will decrease the odds of having a break-in by nearly 400%. There are a few more things you can do to keep the odds in your favor.

1. Use common sense.
  • If you lose a key, get the locks changed.
  • Ask all strangers for identification.
  • DO NOT advertise on FaceBook that you are on vacation
  • Never hide an extra key outdoor - especially underneath a mat or on top of a light fixture. This is the first place the bad guys look. Leave an extra house key with a friend or a neighbor.
2. Make it difficult.
  • Door chains are easy to bypass. Install deadbolts.
  • Install a stopper or stick on all sliding doors and windows.
  • Install window bars on all basement windows.
  • Install exterior motion lights.
3. Break-in's occur when you are away.
  • Make sure all doors and windows are properly locked.
  • Keep your premises well lit at night. Install timers that turn lights on at different times. This gives the appearance that someone is home.
  • If you are going on holidays, have someone look after things such as collecting your mail and newspapers and cutting your lawn.
  • Advise our Rapid Response Monitoring Station you will be away.
4. In case you do have a break-in:
  • If it looks like a door or window was forced open, do not go inside. The Burglar may still be on site. Call the Police from your cellular phone or from a neighbor's house and wait.
  • For insurance purposes, photograph or videotape the contents of your home. Keep all receipts in a safe and easy to find location.
  • Write down the model and serial number of all electronics.
  • If you didn't already have a security system, now is the time to install one. A second break-in is possible after the insurance company replaces your original goods.

REED SECURITY WINS TWO SABEX AWARDS: SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR & CUSTOMER SERVICE

Many people came up to me afterwards and said they could relate to my words. Here's the acceptance:

Congratulations to Checks N Balances, DIG Animation, and all others being recognized tonight. This award has been very elusive to Reed Security in the past and I can tell that after 5 tries – perseverance has finally paid off.

But it’s not the first time perseverance has paid off for myself or Reed Security. We all have our stories, but there’s one I want to share with you that has had the most impact and continues to shape what Reed Security is today.

The story is about a young teenager in small town Saskatchewan that was having problems with his grades to the point of failure. Three times a year his parents would meet the teachers and all three times the teachers would say “He’s really smart, but he doesn’t apply himself”. (This story is not about Ken Achs).

One day a teacher by the name of Mr. Watkins pulled the boy aside and said “you have no idea what it says on the wall in the gym…do you – it’s our school motto.” The boy didn’t have a clue. Mr. Watkins took the boy to the gym and had him read the words aloud. The words read “Excellence Takes Effort”. He took the time to explain the meaning to the boy and through his coaching, leadership, and accountability - he was able to guide the boy from the bottom of the class to being one of the top performers through graduation.

Thank you Mr. Glynn Watkins for showing an interest in me and teaching me what leadership is all about. It is your coaching and influence that’s helped me the most as a person and shape the values at Reed Security. I adopted your “Excellence Takes Effort” slogan and made it our own.

Whether it’s answering the phones, providing proposals, administration, customer service, performing an install, or helping our clients after the sale I can tell you that the Reed Security staff go the extra mile every day. Thank you to Beverly Lee, JJ Feraro, Michelle Nagy, Julia Keil, Charissa Theissen, Shelley Penner, Geoff Assman, Jason Marcal and Cody Rakai for being the committed staff you are and for following my leadership. You are all everyday leaders.

I also want to thank our clients for putting your trust in Reed Security to protect you. We understand that you are the only reason we are here and look forward to helping you any way we can. We know you have a choice and I want thank you for supporting our Independent and Local Small Business.
